I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in relational issues. I primarily work with individuals and couples, though I often see families and offer group therapy. The majority of people who work with me are working on finding themselves, getting unstuck, and dealing with loss, anxiety, perfectionism, depression, abuse, relationships, and relational trauma. I especially enjoy working with couples and individuals on Self discovery/clarity/acceptance and creating balance in life. I also work with many parents as a Positive Discipline Parent Educator.
I utilize a number of theoretical positions, such as Adlerian, Humanistic, Experiential, Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT), Systems, Dialectic Behavioral (DBT), Attachment, Positive Discipline, Emotionally Focused (EFT), and Lifespan Integration (designed to heal trauma without retraumatization). Also influencing my practice are my past and current philosophical studies, mainly in logic and Buddhism.
I believe that humans strive to live in health, joy, and balance. While we strive to stay in these states of being, we do not always feel like we are moving in the "right" direction. We get this amazing opportunity to create our own lives and sometimes we find ourselves overwhelmed or stuck in patterns that don't work. You are the expert of your life. I hope to help you understand how you are moving in the world and give you tools that will help you achieve your goals. I practice in a way that is BioPsychoSocialSpiritual, coach-like, open-minded, and non-pathological. I am immensely privileged to walk along side you as you make your way through challenging moments.
